Groundnut Cultivation System:
Selection of soil types:-
Soil selection is the most important task in groundnut cultivation. Suitable soils for groundnut crop
* Sandy red soils,
*Sandy loam soils
*Chalka and red loam soils
Soils with high sand content and low moisture content are very suitable for groundnut crop and clayey and sticky soils are not suitable for groundnut cultivation, soils with poor drainage are also unsuitable for groundnut cultivation.
This climate is very suitable for us especially in our Telugu regions where rainfall is recorded from 40 to 110 cm
Temperatures required for groundnut crops:-
* A temperature of 26 to 37 degree centigrade during growth stage of groundnut crop and 23 to 26 degree centigrade temperature during growth stage of pods is good for crop growth.
The floor is flat:
For easy germination of groundnut seeds and to reduce weed growth, the soil should be flattened with a tractor plow to a depth of approximately 10 to 16 cm without any ups and downs. Also the plant grows more. The pods grow deep in the ground. So a depth of 10 – 16 cm is sufficient.
Selection of seeds for groundnut cultivation:-
As each region has different climatic conditions, it is better to consult the agricultural authorities to select the groundnut seed varieties available according to those regions. Groundnut varieties like ICGS-91144, Kadiri-9, Dharani, Kadiri 6, TAG-24, Ananta, Haritandhra and Narayana are suitable for irrigation in Rabi.
Seed purification
Importantly, in the process of selecting the seed, firstly, the seeds that have damaged the upper layer of the groundnut seed (potu) and the seed color has changed completely. To deal effectively with different types of pests in the groundnut crop, seed cleaning should be made mandatory. 1g of carbandazim or 3g per kg of seed for seed treatment before sowing the seeds in the ground. Treat the seeds with Mancozeb. Rootworm problem can also be observed in light soils. 6.5 ml per kg seed in such areas. 1 ml of Chlorpyrifos and stem rot virus in susceptible areas. Imidacloprid 600 f.s. 8 ml. Mix in water and apply to one kg of seed. 180 g per kg seed per acre in new groundnut growing areas. Rhizobium culture should be taken. 12 g per kg of seed in areas where root rots, root rots and stem rots are highly expected by pests. Good results can be obtained by treating seeds with Trichoderma viride. Insecticide should be mixed before seed treatment. After that the seeds are dried and treated with fungicides. Rats, squirrels and birds separate the seeds from the seeds before they are sown. In that case it is better to keep kerosene, pinetar and sun-shiny covers in the hand.
Note :- Agricultural Officers are requested to take advice on matters like seed selection and seed purification.
Groundnut sowing time:-
*Farmers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states can sow groundnut seeds in the last week of May or first week of June or till the month of July
Time of irrigation :-
* Farmers mainly plant groundnut crop before the onset of rainy season so for the first time 1 or 2 times a day watering is required. Even if water is not available, water consumption may not be as much as June is the time of monsoon. Use irrigation if available.
*The crop needs to be watered at least once in 7-10 days as the requirement of water is high during flowering. During summer, water should be provided at least once in 6-8 days.
Method of Weed Ownership :-
Weed problem is high in groundnut crop as the plants invade the crop and the growth of weed becomes difficult. Weeding of these weeds should be done 30 to 40 days after harvesting. Weeds should be completely removed from the crop up to 70 days. Injectable drugs are available to prevent weaning during childbirth
Pests and Pests :-
Pests: Leaf blight, tobacco borer, caterpillars, aphids, leaf spot, stem borer, stem borer, fruit borer virus, stem borer virus
Deficiency of micronutrients in groundnut crop :-
In case of nutritional deficiencies like zinc, sulphur, iron, calcium, manganese etc., we ask that the agricultural authorities take advice.
Groundnut Harvest Time :-
The final harvest of groundnut is 120 to 130 days depending on the variety of groundnut. A plant should be taken out of the ground, 60 to 70 percent of the plant branches and leaves turn yellow at the time of harvest. Harvest when the inner part of the shell turns black. It is good to ensure adequate moisture in the soil during harvesting
